Description
Inspired by the rich and patterned colours of Morocco, this ONE-OFF saved-denim yoke & cotton layer skirt is a playful nod to the historic vibrancy of north-west African fabrics, mosaics and general decor. In contrast, the gathered layers and unfinished denim details pay homage to cowgirl culture which surfaces as a fashion trend every ten years or so.
This is an easy-wear, trans-seasonal statement piece that references it’s previous life as a pair of stretch denim Levi’s jeans, with retained and shaped raw edges and standard rust toned denim thread topstitching detail. In the Florence Saves Clothes workroom, we teamed it with high-quality cotton prints our associate fabric artist no longer had use for and created two gathered layers from three pre-cut fabric blocks. It is shown here in a barefoot summer setting, but in colder months, wear it with bright tights and DMs, Chuck Taylors or even winter ballet flats.
SIZE: This totally unique skirt has a jeans wait of 30″, and therefore fits a female (or equivalent) large 10 / standard 12 /small 14. Model Cindy is a size 10 and wears it low on her hips. Skirt length is 52cm measure from waistband, at Centre back.
MATERIAL SOURCES: ImpacTex, Mystic Quilter, Trendy Trims, Florence Saves Clothes stockroom

LOCATION: Cleaned, graded, designed, cut, sewn and finished at the Westmere workroom and mobile mending van.
CARE: This garment will be best cared for with very infrequent hand washing and line dried, then pressed with a steam iron.
